DAY 1

Reach Kathmandu

Your journey starts as you reach Kathmandu airport from where you will be transferred to the hotel by our representative.  You stay at the hotel in Kathmandu overnight.

DAY 2

Kathmandu to Pokhara via flight or drive

On this day, w fly or drive to Pokhara enjoying the view of the beautiful countryside. We will move past several settlements as well as pristine rivers on our way to the city of lakes, Pokhara. You will be taken to your hotel to rest after reaching Pokhara. You can stroll around Fewa lake in the evening. Overnight stay at Pokhara.

DAY 3

Pokhara to Jomsom (2720 meters) via flight and head to Kagbeni (2800 meters); four hours

We take a scenic flight to reach Jomsom along the gorge of Kali Gandaki. Jomsom is the beginning point of our trekking journey. We move along the bank of the Kali Gandaki river and then ascend up to finally reach Kagbeni which is the entrance to Upper Mustang.

DAY 4

Move to Chhuksang (2980 meters); four to five hours

We walk along the Kali Gandaki river as we move up the barren and arid land to reach Tangbe, a Gurung village.  We descend to Chhuksang from Tangbe. We can relish the view of Mount Nilgiri throughout the trekking path. Overnight stay at Chhuksang.

DAY 5

Head to Samar (3360 meters); three to four hours

Again, we move down to Kali Gandaki river and then walk ahead along the river to reach Chele village. We then climb the steep passes of the Taklam La (3624 meters) and the Dajori la (3735 meters).  We now descend to Samar village. We witness the Annapurna I and Nilgiri (7061 meters) from here.

DAY 6

Trek till Ghiling (3350 meters) and visit the Chunsi Cave; five to six hours

As we cross a Chorten around Samar, we ascend above the Syangboch river first and reach Chyangsi cave which is embellished by prayer flags and is worshipped by the Buddhist people. We follow the trail around the cliff and reach Syangboche. From Syangboche, we descend following CHortens to enter Ghiling village. Stay overnight at Ghiling.

DAY 7

Head to Dhakmar (3450 meters); around five hours

Our trekking journey begins as we ascend to Zaite. There is going to be ups and downs on the route on this day as we ascend to Nyi La and then descent to sand dunes and then ascend to cross the Ghami La (3765 meters). We will be welcomed by the ancient monastery in Ghami la at the entrance itself. Afterward, we cross the Mani wall in Mustang which is the longest here and climb up to reach Dhakmar.

DAY 8

Move to Lo Manthang (3810 meters) en route Marang La (4230 meters); six to seven hours

We climb uphill on this day to cross the Mui La (4170 meters) and then we descend to reach the sacred Ghar Gumba.  We walk along the Charang Khola for a while before we ascend through the trail that takes us to the Marang La (4230 meters). We will be able to view the Mustang Himal range from here. We descend down later along the spectacular desert to reach the main city, Lo Manthang. Overnight stay at Lo Manthang.

DAY 9

Ride on horseback; explore the village, Choser

This day is going to be exciting as we explore the Choser village on a horseback. Choser is home to a three-thousand-year-old cave which is revered by the locals. Choser cave is picturesque because of his architecture too. We can explore the surrounding of this place and other monasteries as well before retracing our steps back to Lo Manthang.

DAY 10

Head to Yara village (3900 meters); eat lunch at Dhi village; six to seven hours

We bid our goodbyes to Lo Manthang as we move up to Lo La (3950 meters). We move downhill across beautiful deserts after which we climb the pass Dhi La (3950 meters). We reach Dhi after moving down. We cross the Mustang Khola by a bridge and the walk along Puyung Khola to reach Yara.

DAY 11

Rest at Yara and visit Luri Gumba

We follow the Puyung Khola and visit the Luri Gumba which is embellished by beautiful prayer flags and with Buddhist paintings and scripture. After enjoying some time in Gumba, we get back to Yara where we stay overnight.

DAY 12

Move to Tangye village (3320 meters); six to seven hours

We move across the arid terrain to get out of Yara as we head to Tangye. We highly recommend you to have adequate water and dry food and energy bars to eat on the way. We walk past the Dhechyang Khola and then cross several streams to reach Tangye. We can visit the beautiful monastery of Tangye.

DAY 13

Head to Chhuksang; eight to nine hours

We walk along an abandoned path as we head to Chhuksang so do not forget to carry enough water and energy bars and even some packed lunch for this day.

 

We have several ups and downs on this day to finally reach Chhuksang. We will be greeted by a beautiful Mani wall as we head back to the valley of Kali Gandaki. Overnight stay at Chhuksang.

DAY 14

Move to Muktinath (3780 meters); eight to nine hours

We first ascend to reach Gyu La (4077 meters) where we can see the majestic panorama of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Tukuche.  Afterward, we move down to reach Muktinath, a site revered by both Buddhists and Hindus.

 

There is a settlement here in Muktinath below the main temple; we stay there overnight.

DAY 15

Muktinath-Jomsom en route Lupra village

We move down a quiet path with monasteries en route Ranipauwa. We move along Lupra which is a Thakali village; we visit the age-old Bon Po monastery and then we descend to the bank of the river, Kali Gandaki till we reach Jomsom. Overnight stay at Jomsom

DAY 16

Jomsom to Pokhara via a flight

We bid farewell to Mustang as we take the scenic flight to Pokhara from Jomsom. As we reach Pokhara enjoying the natural beauty of Nepal, you will be transferred to the hotel room for rest. You have the choice to cycle around Pokhara later in a hired mountain bike or you could go boating around Phewa lake. Overnight stay at Pokhara.

DAY 17

Pokhara to Kathmandu via drive; six to seven hours

We travel back to the great city of Kathmandu, enjoying the incredible scenic drive on the great Prithvi Highway, surrounded by lavish green hills, crystal blue rivers, and fine village houses. The breathtaking views around the way make the ride a great experience. Upon arriving at the tremendous Nepalese city of Kathmandu, you will also return to your hotel for the usual check-in. Relax and rejuvenate during your stay at Kathmandu's happy and excellent hotel accommodation.

DAY 18

Fun sightseeing tour in Kathmandu

We start the day with a visit to the great Swayambhunath, a UNESCO World Heritage Site offering fine views of Kathmandu from its tall perch. The site has a calm garden and a fine porch in the city. Later, we explore the nunnery Gompa, where female monks practice great Buddhism. The day concludes with a great overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

DAY 19

Leisure activities in Kathmandu

You can involve in individual activities in Kathmandu on this day. You can go for shopping for souvenirs in Thamel and Basantapur.   You will have a delicious farewell dinner at an authentic Nepalese restaurant.

DAY 20

Day 20 : Bid farewell to Nepal

This is your last day in Nepal. You will be transferred to the airport from where you can move to your native land or to your next destination via a flight.

Good To Know

Please note that you will have to stay in Kathmandu for a day at the beginning of your trip in order to complete the immigration formalities which require a complete day to finish; this is necessary for acquiring the Upper Mustang Trekking permit.
