The Mount Everest Base Camp short trek is a twelve days trekking package which provides you with the opportunity to step on the base camp of the tallest peak of the world namely the Mount Everest Base Camp which lies besides other tall peaks like the Lhotse and Nuptse mountains. This short trek allows you adequate time to acclimatize and move forward enjoying the natural surroundings of the Everest region.
 

This trekking package allows you to wander around the spectacular path that lets you explore lush green alpine forests with rhododendron trees, blue pines along with beautiful silver forests to the aid terrains in the high valley of Khumbu. Along with witnessing the culturally and historically significant monuments and sites, we move past the deep Kaligandaki gorge and explore the Sagarmatha National Park, one of the World Heritage Sites which is home to diverse flora and fauna. We move along high hills and explore the popular Namche Bazaar town which is a great place to relax for acclimatization and immerse yourself into the culture and lifestyle of the Sherpa.

DAY 1

Day 1 : Kathmandu to Lukla via flight (30 minutes) and trek to Phakding (2612 meters); four hours

Early in the morning, we transfer to Kathmandu airport and fly from there to Lukla airport, namely Tenzing-Hillary airport.

After a short, relaxing break, we head to Phakding as we move across a slow, easy route with some ascends to reach Phakding village, a beautiful Sherpa village located above the river, Dudh Koshi.

DAY 2

Day 2 : Head to Namche Bazaar (3440 meters) en route Sagarmatha National Park check-post; six hours

A gradual walk in the morning leads us to Sagarmatha National Park entry gate, from where we cross a bridge to reach Jorsalle village. This could be our lunch stop. In the afternoon, we walk along the river bed in the lush green forests to further climb a high bridge that takes us to the beautiful Namche Bazaar after a cumbersome time moving uphill with views of snow-peaks. Then, we transfer to our lodges in Namche Bazaar; Namche is a tourist hub and a market in Khumbu where Saturday markets are held once every week. Stay overnight in Namche Bazaar.

DAY 3

Day 3 : Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar

We take a day to rest in Namche Bazaar. We have reached a higher elevation so we need to take some time to acclimatize. On this day, we will take a short hike up to Everest View hotel which has to offer an amazing panorama of snowy peaks like the majestic Everest and the magnificent Amadablam.  We will visit an intriguing museum where we will get to know about the Khumbu lifestyle, people, culture, vegetation and the history of mountaineering.

DAY 4

Day 4 : Move to Thyangboche Monastery (3860 meters); five hours

After having a good time in Namche, we move forward to Thyangboche.  The morning walk encompasses an ascend and then walking on a path which provides views of Ama Dablam and the mighty Everest.  We then descend to the river, Imjatse from where we reach the place named Phunke Tenga which is a possible lunch stop amidst a wood.  We then climb the forested area with views if the Kangtenga-Tharmasarku and other towering peaks as we reach Thyangboche.  Thyangboche has a spectacular monastery where we can witness the beautiful interiors with Buddhism influenced designs.

We can savor the amazing surrounding with a view of the majestic Mount Everest and the magnificent Ama Dablam with the lush green rhododendron-oaks-fir and juniper forests. We stay here overnight.

DAY 5

Day 5 : Head to Dingboche (4410 meters); five hours

Early in the morning, w can view the scenic mountains and then we can walk downhill to reach Dingboche. From here, we again reach the river Imjatse from where we cross a bridge to reach Pangboche as we move through the arid terrains.

This village has lodges to serve the needs of the visitors of Everest Base Camp. Afterward, we have some ups and downs which take us to a river and a final climb for around an hour leads us to the Dingboche with Ama Dablam on the north and Island Peak on the east.

DAY 6

Day 6 : Rest day in Dingboche

We have a break for acclimatization on this day where we hike for some hours over the hills above the valley of Imjatse and Dingboche. We will see the fifth highest peak in the world Mt. Makalu on the east. We will have spare time to roam around Dingboche which is sandwiched within Imjatse valley underneath the Amadablam North Face.

DAY 7

Day 7 : Head to Lobuche (4940 meters); four hours

After a good time in Dingboche, we head to the place named Lobuche. We have a short climb over a ridge with colorful prayer flags along with monuments. We walk above Pheriche Valley enjoying the views of Taboche and Cholatse peaks from where we reach the place called Thugla. We walk past a short bridge and then ascend to Thugla for lunch. We climb the ridge with a memorial for mountaineers who lost their life while climbing peaks around Everest and Khumbu. And, we gradually walk up to get to Lobuche where we stay overnight.

DAY 8

Day 8 : Move to Gorak Shep (5164 meters) and hike to EBC (5364 meters) and retrace to Gorakshep; seven hours

We reach the main destination of our journey today. We slowly climb ahead to reach a high ridge near Khumbu glacier. We walk over rocky and icy terrains to get to an area near Gorak Shep situated at the bottom of Kalapatthar. We make our way to the Everest Base Camp enjoying the views of the Khumbu glacier along with the Lhotse, Nuptse and Everest peaks. After this, we move back to Gorakshep where we stay overnight before getting back to Lukla.

DAY 9

Day 9 : Hike to Kala Patthar (5545 meters) and trek till Pheriche (4137 meters); six hours

Before breakfast, we climb the high ridge early in the morning to reach the highest elevation of the adventure which will reward us with the spectacular views of Mt. Pumori and Mt. Everest. We retrace our steps back to Gorakshep to eat breakfast from where he heads to Pheriche, a beautiful valley near Dingboche where Himalayan Rescue Association is stationed. We stay overnight in Pheriche.

DAY 10

Day 10 : Head to Namche Bazaar; six hours

We have an easy walk to reach the Pangboche village where we enjoy the scenic beauty of the natural surrounding.  We move to lower elevation as each hour passes by.  We reach Thyangboche from Pangboche and can visit its monastery on our way. With few ups and downs, the scenic path leads us to Namche Bazaar where we stay overnight before heading to Lukla.

DAY 11

Day 11 : Move to Lukla (2860 meters); six hours

This is the final day of our marvelous adventure.  We descend down the river valley to reach the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park and then we reach Monjo village from where we walk past Phakding and slump for some time to reach Lukla before we fly to Kathmandu.

DAY 12

Day 12 : Lukla to Kathmandu via a flight

After a hearty breakfast in Lukla, we board a flight to reach Kathmandu. We will enjoy the natural sceneries on this flight.
