We practice glacier and snow climbing with our Sherpa Climbing Guide while our staff establishes a high camp on the mountain. We will ascend the South Ridge to a steep snow camp from where we ideally place to the summit. The commanding views of Everest reward us for our effort. On the same day, we descend to Lobuche Village. We trek to nearby Everest Base Camp and Kala Pathar before heading to the Chhukung Valley where our next two objectives await: Pokalde and Island Peak. The climb to the Pokalde summit is relatively straightforward, and since we have learned some mountaineering skills and well acclimatised, it seems surprisingly relaxed.
