Hop Nepal never adds extra charges to homestays. Our mission is simple: support local hosts, protect authentic village life, and help travellers experience the real Nepal.

Jankole Tharu Community Homestay stands as a dynamic enterprise, run by the Tharu women of Jankole village, next to the beautiful Jankauli Bufferzone Community Forest and alongside the silent Dhungre River. This comprises 57 skillfully managed Tharu houses, each with proper care, and offers authentic, immersive experiences of Tharu culture.
One of the highlights is its ethnic, Tharu-style accommodation, with naturally air-conditioned rooms having traditional Tharu beds and modern bathrooms. Guests will, of course, enjoy warm/cold, clean water at their service at any time they want. Ethnic lighting in a warm style adds to each room, which features its own private balcony, ideal for enjoying drinks and meals while soaking up the tranquil surroundings. The huts are constructed with elephant-finger-sized sticks for the roofing, topped with corrugated zinc and insulated with traditional thatched roofing to ensure a comfortable and authentic experience.
Apart from accommodation, visitors to Jnakole Tharu Community Homestay enjoy spellbinding culinary experiences. Over 400 Tharu dishes would be available, including different stars, main courses, vegetables, fruits, salads, and a range of beverages such as cocktails, mocktails, and homemade desserts.
Food is seasonal, fresh, hygienic, organic, full of flavor, and full of nutrition—truly representative of Tharu cuisine. For interested visitors, there is also an opportunity to learn the traditional methods and skills of Tharu cuisine.
The homestay also provides an immersive cultural experience: from traditional Tharu dances to vetting real Tharu attire and ornaments, and a visit to the Tharu Museum, which is steeped in rich heritage among the Tharu people.
This homestay offers a special Tharu ethnic jungle safari, ideal for nature lovers, guided by guides with over 30 years of experience in the jungles of the Chitwan district. These guides demonstrate to a visitor how to indigenously move through the jungle, identify trees, and understand wild life—very enriching in adding knowledge about the local ecosystem. It is a fabulous opportunity to get closer to the local Tharu farmers and study their farming practices—the association that the people of Tharu have with the land. While indulging in such activities, guests relate themselves to the soil, treated and referred to as 'the mother nature,' and develop a sense of appreciation towards nature herself and to some great farming practices. It is in a unique combination that Jankole Tharu Community Homestay offers cultural authenticity, natural beauty, and community engagement for memorable stays.
