Mount Everest has a maximum elevation of 29,029 feet (8,848 m). The height varies from the summit of Everest to the lower plateau elevation of 9,334 feet (2,845 m). It is near Makalu Barun National Park.

The park comprises enormous mountainous landscapes, canyons, and towering Himalayan mountains, with Mount Everest serving as the symbolic destination. Few people attempt to ascend the peak, while others trek to lower elevations or base camp.

Most guests want to see Mount Everest from a beautiful flight that provides a bird's eye view of the summit. Everest is one of the World's Seven Natural Wonders. Six more 20,000-foot summits are Amadablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Cho Oyu, and Thamserku (6,000 m).

The forested ecosystem accounts for only 3% of the park's total area. Grazing fields and sparse vegetation account for the remaining 28%. Because of the higher heights, about 70% of the park is made up of arid ground devoid of flora.
