From the reconciliation campaign led by late king Prithvi Narayan Shah to the current situation, Nuwakot has had a characteristic remanence.

Where does Nuwakot get its name?

'Nuwakot' is a combination of the words 'nawa' and 'kort.' In Nepali, the term 'nawa' means nine, and the word 'kort' means holy religious places at the top of a hill. As a result, the district has nine hills where various deities are said to reside, overseeing and protecting Nuwakot.

Nuwakot's allure captivates through the ages

As a result, Nuwakot is sometimes referred to as the "City of Nine Hills." Prithivi Narayan Shah, the Gorkhali ruler, invaded Nuwakot, which Jaya Prakash Malla ruled, and made Nuwakot the capital of his empire.

Since Nuwakot is a hilly region with few plains, much of the land is still undeveloped. Significant shifts have occurred in the past few years. Schools, universities, and hospitals have been established in the city centres, and the road system has been improved.

Agriculture, teaching, the global economy, livestock farming, industry, hotels, Agro Tourism, Eco-Tourism, and the Khadya Bank, among other things, are all important to the people.

Jiling has been designated as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) where businesses thrive, and Nuwakot's economy is expected to expand. NEPAL KHADYA BANK LTD. has opened a branch in Kashitar to assist farmers with food protection, food banking, grain storage, distribution, and supply.
