Dhading District is one of Nepal's seventy-seven districts and is located in Bagmati Province. The district, which has its headquarters in Dhading Besi, spans 1,926 square kilometres (744 square miles) and had a population of 338,658 in 2001 and 336,067 in 2011.

Dhading is one of Nepal's most isolated districts, located in the country's central zone. Despite its location on the Kathmandu valley's outskirts in the Bagmati Region, many parts of the district are still inaccessible by road. Today in this blog section, we talk about the different aspects of the Dhading district.

Geography and Climate of Dhading District

The Dhading district stretches from 27'40" east to 28'17" east and from 80'17" north to 84'35" north. The Ganesh Himal mountain range is the most prominent mountain range in Dhading. Any of the peaks reach heights of over 7,000 meters (23,000 ft).

Despite being within Gorkha's borders, the 8,000-meter (26,000-foot) plus mountain Manaslu can be seen from most of Dhading. The Prithivi Highway, which connects Kathmandu and Pokhara, passes through the district's southern part, providing convenient access to the Kathmandu valley.

The Trishuli River runs parallel to the road. The Budhigandaki River runs through Gorkha's western border.

The district is bordered by:

West: Gorkha

East: Kathmandu, Nuwakot, Rasuwa

North: Tibet and Rasuwa

South: Chitwan and Makwanpur

Dhading is Nepal's only district that stretches from the Ganesh Himal to the Terai Churevawar Pradesh (Chitwan). The district, which has its headquarters in Dhading Besi, covers an area of 1,926 square kilometres (744 square miles) and has a population of 338,658 people (as of 2001).

The "Ganesh" mountain range is the most prominent mountain range in Dhading. The peaks all exceed 7,000 meters (23,000 feet), with some exceeding 8,000 meters (26,000 ft). Despite being within Gorkha's borders, the 8,000-meter (26,000-foot) plus mountain "Manaslu" can be seen from most of Dhading.

The transnational "King Prithivi Highway," which connects Kathmandu and Pokhara, passes through the district's southern part, providing convenient access to the Kathmandu valley. The Trishuli River runs parallel to the route. Dhading is made up of 80% agriculture and 20% woodland. The Budhigandaki River, one of Nepal's most beautiful rivers, runs parallel to Gorkha's western frontier.

In the high altitudes of Lapa, Sertung, Tipling, and Jharlang, rainfall is typically in the form of snow.

The district's population is predominantly Bhramin and Chetri in the south, Tamang and Gurung in the north, and Newari in the east. Dhading is on the Gurkha highway, which passes through the birthplace of Nepal's founder, King Prithivi Naryan Shah.

Rivers Flowing in Bagmati District

Budi Gandaki, which originates in Ganesh Himal and flows through Arughat Bazaar and Salyantar before meeting Ankhu Khola at Narsingha Dhamm, is the district's main river. The Budhi Gandaki divides the district from Gorkha.

Dhading Besi

Dhading Besi is the district headquarters and the town (neighbourhood) of Nepal's Dhading district. Nilkantha Municipality encompasses the city. Nilkantha Municipality's administrative centre is also located here.

Where does Dhading Besi get its name from?

The word besi in Nepali means lowlands in a river valley, which is why so many people have settled here. It's a small town nestled between two rivers, the Arun Khola and the Thopal Khola (Khola means a small river in Nepali).

Since it is the district headquarters, the majority of government offices are in the city. Via an all-weather motorable district feeder road that connects to the Prithvi Highway, it is linked to Kathmandu, Chitwan, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Pokhara, and the rest of Nepal.
