The Morang district is located in the Koshi zone on the eastern side of Nepal. It also lies in the outer region of Terai, which Jhapa surrounds on the east side, Panchtar and Dhankuta in the northern region , Sunsari in the western region and Bihar of India on the southern side of Nepal. Biratnagar is one major trade centre hub of Morang.The total area of the Morang district is 1855 km2. The lowest altitude is placed at 60 meters, and the highest altitude is 2410 meters, which is above sea level. The headquarters of Morang is well-lined with the Koshi National Highway at the western and eastern sides of the Mahendra National Highway, which is located at Itahari, Sunsari, Nepal. Morang is the primary industrial sector of the east Nepalese side. At the start of 7th century, a monarch named King Mung Mawrong Hang conquered the lands of Limbuwan (Modern Morang, Jhapa and Sunsari area). He destroyed much of the forest area at the Rangeli, which is the eastern part of Biratnagar, and established a town there. He later named his Kingdom of Morang in honor of his name. Later, King Sangla Ing became the inaugural king of the Limbuwan state of Morang after nearly a thousand years since the last king came into power. He maintain and established a friendly terms with several kings of Limbhuwan. He made his kingdom at the Varatappa and regined from this place. Sangla was later succeeded by his scion, Pungla Inga, who changed his religion to Hinduism and made his name into Amar Raya Ing.
