Makwanpur, a district steeped in history and nestled in the heart of Nepal's Bagmati zone, spans an area of 2426 square km. It serves as a gateway to the capital city of Kathmandu and the southern Terai region, making it a strategically located gem. Its historical importance is evident in its past as the Makwanpur state, a significant entity before Nepal's unification under the visionary monarch Prithvi Narayan Shah. It is covered and aligned with many districts, such as Bara and Parsa in the south, Chitwan in the western, Lalitpur and Kathmandu on the northern side, and Sindhuli on the eastern side. The landscape is a mix of rivers, forests and hilly states, making it a great way to spend time in nature by attracting travellers. Makwanpur has major historical significance as it was once a Makwanpur state before Nepal was united under one single banner by monarch Prithvi Narayan Shah. This state's fall gave rise to Prithvi Narayan Shah's grand vision of a single Nepal. The history is also connected with the robust Sen Dynasty that reigned over the region before Gorkha forces eventually conquered it.
