Kailali is one of the major districts in the seventy-seven districts of Nepal, situated in the Sudurpashchim zone in the western part of Nepal. It holds a special place economically and culturally. The district is well recognized for its history, cultural diversity, lovely nature, and strategic location in Nepal. It has an area of approx.—3,235 sq. km. India covers the southern Bardiya in the eastern district and is surrounded by the Kanchanpur district on the western side. The region's geography also sees it from the lowland Terai plains to the south side of Churia hills in the south. Dhangadhi is the biggest city in Kailali and the region's headquarters.
